Everyone nowadays uses ON/OFF buttons and switches taking for granted their function in automated gestures. Home lighting, mobile telephones, computers, cars, machines of every sort, from personal to industrial facilities, every- where and every day ON and OFF functions are performed. The ON/OFF Box is a reflection about these roles, giving a different perspective to the performance of a switch. The words ON and OFF were translated to the digital language - binary code. The result of this translation was com- piled to sound through a method similar to MIDI protocol: 0 = silence; 1 = beep. This piece underpins the importance of the word to the function it performs rather than having the function as the primary instance. |
ON/OFF Box videos will be uploaded soon. Thanks for your interest. |
